Our team at Kelvedon Dental Centre continually receive phone calls from people with dental problems who also struggles to leave their home.
If you or someone you know are housebound and experience toothache, denture problems and/or other oral health related issues just give us a call, we can help.

Community Domiciliary Dental Care (dental home visits) is a vital facility provided by the Local Authorities. This service requires triaging and forms part of an individual care plan, restricted to those individuals who are deemed permanently or long term housebound or in residential care. Please contact your GP for more information.
We found that there are many barriers preventing a fast growing group of people from accessing the care they need. This lead us, at Kelvedon Dental Centre, to put measures in place to make it possible for us to offer Dental Home Visits to this group.
A lot of people don't have a care plan but are still restricted to their home for various reasons such as:
age
medical conditions
recent operation/accident
social anxiety
living with shielding/vulnerable people
We visit people in their own homes, supported living settings and care homes. Our patients include:
People living with physical disabilities
Those managing mental health challenges
Individuals with additional needs
Older adults who find travel difficult
Family carers who can’t easily leave a loved one
Residents in care homes
And people who simply prefer the convenience of being seen at home
You don’t need to “qualify.”You don’t need to justify. If coming to a clinic feels hard, we’ll come to you.
We don’t triage people out or decide who is “appropriate enough” for a home visit. If you feel a domiciliary appointment would help, we’ll listen.
What We Offer During a Home Visit
Our domiciliary appointments are designed to provide comprehensive, safe dental care in familiar surroundings.
Depending on your needs, we can provide:
Dental check-ups
Professional cleaning and hygiene appointments
Fillings
Simple extractions
Denture assessments and new dentures
Denture adjustments and advice
Assessment of soft tissues (including fungal infections, sore areas and mouth ulcers)
Preventive advice and ongoing care planning
We carry professional portable equipment and always assess carefully to ensure treatment can be delivered safely at home.
We prescribe necessary medication if needed and give suitable advice on which products to choose.
If something requires referral to a specialist setting, we will explain this clearly and guide you through the next steps.
What to do
It starts with a phone call so we can discuss your specific situation and concerns.
Once we have established your needs, we will arrange a convenient time to come and see you. You will meet a Dentist and a Dental Nurse who will wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) to keep everybody safe.
Although there are limitations to the level of dentistry we can provide in a non clinical setting, we aim to initially fix your immediate issue and put a plan in place should any additional treatment be required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can book a Domiciliary Dental Visit?
Anyone who feels it would help.
Some of our patients have disabilities, complex medical conditions or severe dental anxiety. Others are carers who struggle to leave a loved one unattended. Many live in care homes. And some simply prefer the convenience and privacy of being seen at home.
If getting to a dental practice feels difficult — for any reason — we’re here.
Do you judge whether someone “qualifies” for a home visit?
No.
We don’t believe in creating unnecessary barriers or making people justify their needs. If you feel a home visit would make dental care more accessible or manageable, we will listen and work with you.
Is it safe to have dental treatment at home?
Yes. Safety is our priority.
We are experienced in treating patients with complex medical histories and additional needs. We bring appropriate equipment, carry out careful assessments, and only provide treatment that is safe and suitable in a home environment.
If we ever feel something would be better managed in a clinical setting, we will explain why and support you with the next steps.
Can you really do fillings and extractions at home?
Yes — we can provide certain fillings and simple extractions during domiciliary visits, provided it is clinically appropriate and safe to do so.
We will always assess carefully before proceeding and discuss options with you clearly.
Do you make dentures during home visits?
Yes. We can assess, plan and arrange new dentures, as well as review existing ones.
We understand how important dentures are for comfort, confidence and eating well, and we take time to ensure they fit and function properly.
What about mouth sores, fungal infections or soft tissue problems?
We routinely assess the health of the soft tissues — including checking for fungal infections (such as denture-related thrush), sore areas, ulcers and other changes.
Early assessment can prevent discomfort from becoming something more serious, so we encourage regular reviews.
Will I know how much it will cost beforehand?
We will always provide a clear quote before any treatment is carried out.
There are no hidden surprises and no pressure. We explain everything openly so you can make an informed decision.
How long does a visit take?
This depends on the type of appointment and the patient’s needs. We work at a calm, unhurried pace and allow time to ensure everyone feels comfortable.
Do you work with care homes?
Yes — we regularly support residents in care homes and supported living environments.
We communicate closely with staff and families and aim to make the process straightforward and respectful for everyone involved.
How do we book?
Simply contact us to start a conversation. We’ll talk through your situation, explain how it works, and arrange a suitable time.
No pressure. Just support.

My first time using Kelvedon dental centre, due to my ill health condition I'm unable to leave my house, which wasn't any issue with Kelvedon dental centre. They were able to come to me and give me a full examination of my mouth teeth/gums and a filling on my broken tooth.
Excellent service and free services and very reasonable. Thanks again and I know where to go if I need a dentist.
